The Jain Family Foundation's mission is to make an impact at the intersection of education and nutrition. We want to leverage not only our founding but also our expertise and our network to bring positive and lasting impact. Education is one of the main avenues for raising people out of poverty and adversity; Nutrition, not just food, is vital for a person to be healthy physically, emotionally and spiritually. You cannot focus if you are hungry. So for education to be effective, nutrition is essential.
PROJECTS
A NEW FREEZER FOR THE HOWARD COUNTY FOOD BANK
The existing freezer at the Howard County Food Bank needed repairs as well as being too small to serve the increasing needs. The new freezer is nearly 3,000 cubic feet, 57% larger than our old freezer. It is now much easier for the Food Bank team to store hundreds of turkey in time for Thanksgiving meal kits to be stored.
COAT DRIVE AND CARE KITS FOR STUDENTS
Career Links, one of the many great programs run by the Howard Community College’s student services department, helps single parents and displaced homemakers achieve their educational goals. An immediate needs of they identified is warm clothing. We were able to provide over 100 coats, jackets, caps, in time for the cold weather.
GROW GREEN
Howard Community College’s “Feeding Futures Program” aims to address food insecurities among the college’s low-income population. The program is working to provide college students with access to healthy food, available through the on-campus food pantry and garden, and will also offer cooking classes and educational materials.

The Jain Family Foundations a leading supporter of Akshay Patra. Built on a Public-Private Partnership model, Akshaya Patra combines good management, innovative technology, and smart engineering to deliver over 1.8 million nutritious and hygienic school lunches on every school day.
